“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” Galatians 6:7
There are a ton of unhappy people in this world, but Christians were never meant to be a part of that group. In a previous post A Satisfied Woman’s Guide, I spoke directly to women. Today I want to speak to both the men and women Christians. The Lord said “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10 Joyce Meyers, a television evangelist, believes “The reason there are so many unhappy Christians is because we only think about ourselves” If you get your mind off of you and stop having a pity party and help someone else, you will be happy. There is something about helping others, somehow it brightens up your day as well. However you can help someone, as Nike would say, “Just do it. ”
If I can help someone less fortunate I will. When Jonathan and I were dating, I would have him give to those in need. He would joke with me that if I keep giving out money to a ton of people, I will be on the street with them soon. All of my needs have always been met. I thank God that I am a natural giver, he has created me with a desire to help those in need. I am the person who gets so excited about giving that I have to pace myself so I won’t give away things I need! And do you know what, I believe that because of my acts of kindness( without looking for something in return) God has blessed me, that all of my needs have always been met.
When I was pregnant with my first child, I worked at a daycare. When I found out I was having a girl, a parent showered me with gifts. She gave us so much we didn’t have to buy anything but diapers for my daughter.
People are always blessing my family with things. I went to the mall after I had my third child, to buy dresses for my oldest daughter. The cashier that helped me noticed that I was buying girls clothes, well she just happened to have a ton of girls clothes that she wanted to bless me with. I recycle my baby clothes so, we definitely didn’t “need” clothes but God placed on this ladies heart to give me some clothes. I could go on and on of all the times God has supplied all my needs. Random people are always giving my family things, and we haven’t ever asked for one thing.
The best part about giving or lending a hand is that you feel better because you helped. Helping someone else lifts your spirit. If you are in a depressed state right now, or are unhappy in general, do something to help others and see how your attitude changes. And try to help someone without worrying about what they are going to do with the help you gave them, albeit money or items. God didn’t ask you to make sure the homeless person spends it on food. He just wants you to be a blessing to those in need. You do the right thing, and help them and God will bless you.
Challenge: This week, look to be a blessing to those in need. Find at least two people a day that you can help in some way. Always be a blessing to someone within your household ( preferable your spouse) first. The next person can be anyone, you receive a double blessing if you are a blessing to those you don’t even like! (Luke 6:33-35)
